How do you announce when an employee is leaving the company? My leadership team and I all have different views.
I feel this can be highly circumstantial. Sometimes the situation will dictate how the communication will happen.
If the employee is bought into the process, I think it’s best to let the employee have a role in deciding how the communications will work. Ideally they’ll be able to send something out of their own, but often that won’t work.
In the cases where there is an abrupt termination, it’s important to acknowledge this, but avoid any kind of detail. Simply point out to people that you’re respecting the employee’s departure.
