Read an article in SHRM’s Resource and Tools section entitled, “Strategic Planning: How can a skills inventory be used for strategic HR planning?” While the article made a case for inclusion of a skills inventory in strategic planning and broadly described it as “a compilation of the skills, education and experiences of current employees,” it did not provide a more detailed template that could be used or a systemic approach to maintaining the data. Any templates or experience in utilizing this approach would be greatly appreciated.

A business i worked for had good success using a program called INNATE (maybe spelling wrong) to be their SWP tool for skills. as projects completed part of shutdown was to update all employees skills in the program and then it was a searchable tool for new projects before they kicked off.
